I just came inside after planting my tomatoes today! If you have been hardening the plants for the last week or two (giving them more exposure to the real world, gradually) they will make it. Adding a layer of compost or mulch around the plants would be extra insurance. Having said that, you can plant tomatoes in Sacramento anytime between now and early June.
Hi Farmer Fred! Should we still plant tomatoes today with the weather predicted to be in the 60s next week and the chance of rain in the Sacramento area? Or would it be better to hold off for a week?
